The Home Run Derby is one of baseball's most anticipated events of the year. On Monday night, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. won his first Derby, defeating Randy Arozarena in the final round. However, not all participants emerged from the event unscathed.
The White Sox's All-Star centre fielder Luis Robert Jr. had calf stiffness during the Derby's opening round. His condition is day to day after having an MRI. It's uncertain whether Robert will be able to play in the team's Friday game versus the Braves.
Robert hit the second-most home runs in the opening round as he defeated Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman 28-27. Arozarena defeated him 35–22 to send him packing in the second round.
Robert is in his fourth major league season and is a first-time All-Star. He has 26 home runs and a .271/.330/.569 slash line through his first 89 games this season. He was the lone White Sox representative at this year's All-Star Game.
